How MIM Therapy PLLC protects what you share with us, when the law requires disclosure, and how to request your records.
Your sessions are protected by law
The relationship between a client and a psychotherapist is protected by law. Information shared in therapy cannot be disclosed to anyone without your written permission. There are a small number of circumstances, defined by Texas law, where we are required to share information even without your consent. These exist to protect the safety of our clients and others.
Suspected abuse or neglect
If we suspect child, dependent adult, or elder abuse, we are required by law to report it to the appropriate authorities immediately.
Threat of serious harm to others
If a client threatens serious bodily harm to another person, we must notify the police and inform the intended victim.
Risk of self-harm
If a client intends to harm themselves, we will make every effort to enlist their cooperation to ensure their safety, and take further measures required by law if they do not cooperate.
Requesting your records
To request behavioral health records, a signed record release must be on file with the records owner. To submit a request, please contact the office directly:
